Where to begin…

The fact that this post is up here is a miracle. I imagine there is something like 1000 blogs on Personal Development, Self Fulfilment, Positive thinking. Let this be 1001. Yet, despite the amount of how to and go to material available, I feel compelled to add my own contributions. I love positive thinking, personal development self-help material and there is plenty out there. This blog will look at what’s available and give my personal review of the material and how it does help (or indeed if it doesn’t). As to my credentials besides having read at least 100 of the books, I have used them to change my life for the better. This I’ll go into later.  I will review books, audiobooks, websites that fall into the above category. Putting these reviews up will probably put me up to a certain amount of scrutiny, negativity and cynicism – I am prepared for this if it does come but I will remain positive.

Throughout reading all my books there has a many things I have picked up from them but there are a few common traits.

1.    Take Action

There is one theme that comes through all the books is that you must be prepared to do something to make things happen. It sounds simple enough, but those looking for the quick fix are disappointed because they are looking for the magic pill. Yet as Anthony Robbins says, if you want drastic results you must take, “Drastic Action”.

2.    If at first you don’t succeed…

This ties in with step number one.  Sometimes the action we may be taking is the wrong way of doing things. Sometimes the road less travelled is the right path. Sometimes you must change the way you are doing things or identify what the problem is. For example, if your car doesn’t start you would not keep turning the key and think positively hoping that the car might start! This would be stupid, you might look at the battery, check the gauges, to identify the reason you cannot get the jalopy started. In the same way, looking at areas of where your battery might be flat. What is sapping you of energy?

3.    Fill your brain with positive messages

You may remember as a child being told to eat your vegetables because they will make you healthy. So it is with what you allow in your mind. If you fill yourself with negativity you become negative. Consume positive message, read positive books. How often are we told if we have dreams, “You’re too Young, too old, not tall enough, you have to be a man to get ahead, you have to be in the right family…”, you could probably add to this list. I remember being told, “if there is a will, there’s a way” if you tell yourself there is a way, it will come, sometimes when you stop looking.

Well I think this is enough to start… now what to do tomorrow…
